Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was said to be drunk during his radio interview the state broadcast network RTE. When asked later on, Cowen denied being drunk or hungover during the interview. Fellow politicians noted that he sounded drunk or hungover during the interview. The not so sober interview is making politicians question Cowen's ability to run the debt stricken government. The Prime Minister's poor performance was not unusual; he tends to drink a few too many pints while at gatherings. Foreign Minister Micheal Martin defended Cowen saying "There is always a social dimension to occasions such as this week's Fianna Fáil gathering, but no more than that." Even though some Irish politicians believe that his poor performance proved it is time for Cowen to step down, he does not face re-elections til 2012.
