Protests expected as India prepares to unveil world's largest statue


On Wednesday, a 600 ft statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is being unveiled in India in the Gujurat state. Patel is an Indian independence hero. A big ceremony is being planned to unveil the statue. 
The police (5,000 officers) will be there to protect against protesters. The protest is not against the statue itself, but the land it is on. People from the community want compensation for the land that they lost to the statue. 185 families had to move from the area to make room for the statue. 
The Prime Minister of India, Modi, has been told by 22 village chiefs to not come to the unveiling. People have been tearing down posters of the Prime Minister and chief minister of the region, Vijay Rupani.
