The EU wants a say in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The EU has a strong feeling they deserve the right to help solve the issue in the middle-east. International officials are heavily considering and hoping Europe can step in. Recently in May meeting with EU officials, King Abdullah of Jordan stated,"to intensify efforts with a view to removing the obstacles that impede the resumption of the peace process." Israeli and Palestinians have agreed that President Obama should stand accountable for the issues between Israel and Palestine, and should take much of the blame. Palestinian leaders suggest Obama has gone back and not kept his promise he made in his June 2009 Cairo speech. Obama promised Palestinians he would back them upon their goal of reaching statehood. Many suggest its time Europe gets involved in the middle-east conflict due to the failings and self interest of President Obama. Last year during a EU conference meeting, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and Miguel Ángel Moratinos stated they, "must play a role because it is a friend of Israel and of the Palestinian Authority [PA] and above all because its own long-term security is at stake."
