Massive earthquake hits: Northeast India

On Sunday evening, magnitude of 6.9 shook northeast India, Nepal around 6:10p.m. local time.

Indian official seismology R.S. Dattatreyan commented that it led to two aftershocks of magnitude of 6.1 and 5.3, warning that more aftershock can happen.
Government reported the damages occurred due to the quake as following:
5 people were killed in the state of Sikkim, 4 people at the state of West Bengal which is located at north Indian, 2 at Bihar state, and 5 people at Nepal, indicating the 16 deaths in total.
More than 50 people were reported to be injured.

TV station reported buildings collapsing and sidewalks cracking at Sikkim's state capital of Gangtok.
50,000 of army columns were sent out for search and rescue of injured people who are under the collapsed buildings.
Some electricity services remained out of service around the area.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sought for assistant, sending a request of an emergency meeting to the National Disaster Management Authority.
For now 5 planes were sent as a rescue from an air force.
