Kenyan and English policeman are conducting an "active search" for an English tourist woman kidnapped from a remote Kenyan resort on Sunday. Being the sole guest at the resort, an English couple was attacked at a safari lodge on the coast near the border with Somalia. The husband, David Tebbut, was shot dead and the wife, Judith, was abducted. Because Kenya's economy relies heavily on tourism, the officials and the public worry that that the case will affect the industry, which has recently recovered from post-election violence in 2008. Officials have interrogated two suspects and believe that the abduction at a luxury resort may have been an inside job. Few solid facts have surfaced as to who did the kidnapping and where the victim was taken.
