Taliban accuse U.S. of crimes as Americans mark 9/11

As the United States remembered the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks this past week, the Taliban accused America of crimes against Muslims. The Taliban issued a statement claiming that the United States used 9/11 as an excuse to perpetrate violence against Muslims. The Taliban says the war on terror was "unjustified," and its only real purpose was to kill "children, old men and women, and babies." The statement continues, saying that the Afghan people "have an endless stamina for a long war," and vows that they will "send the Americas to the dustbin of history."
As the war progresses in Afghanistan, the figures are in from the United Nations for the first six months of this year. Of the 1,462 civilians that have died, anti-government insurgents are responsible for 80% of the killings, mostly through homemade explosive devices and suicide attacks.
