World Bank to aid Africa

Recently nations located on the horn of Africa have been hit with a severe drought. The nations most effected by the drought include; Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti, and Somalia, totaling more than 13 million people. According to the World Bank (which is based in Washington, DC), the drought causes problems such as, "malnutrition, food insecurity, and displacement of people". UN Secretary General Ban Kai-Moon has brought the issue before the UN, he lated stated that, "three quarters of a million people are at risk of starvation and death." Both rising food costs and the ongoing drought are to blame. Kai-Moon describes the plight in the Horn of Africa as the worst humanitarian crises in the world, and stated the $700 million would be needed this year alone to battle the crises. Somalia must be free of famine and drought in order to be brought under control and out of the harmful reach of al Qaeda.
