"Arizona Smashes Mexico Cartel Drug Smuggling Network"

The Mexican/ United States border has long been a place for free trade of weapons and drugs. According to the BBC website, the United States authorities have broken up a massive drug-smuggling network in Arizona that has been run by one of the largest Mexican cartels. The smugglers used backpackers and vehicles to smuggle nearly 30 tons of marijuana, 90kg (200lbs) of cocaine and 72kg (160lbs), and 100 firearms across the border. The network managed to work the drugs across the Mexican border on foot and by vehicle to safe houses in the Phoenix area, officials said. The drugs that the cartels bring to the states are distributed throughout the country. Officials are happy with the outcome of the bust, believing this may be a step in a positive direction for southern states and their illegal narcotics transportation.
