Seven men charged for assassination in Pakistan

On Saturday, two policemen and five militants were charged for being a part of conspiracy of former Pakistani Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated on December 27, 2007, two weeks before parliamentary election begins. When the assassination took place at Rawalpindi, one gunman and suicide bomber were witnessed and suspected as the charge yet they both were killed during the incident.
One of the seven suspects include former police chief of Rawalpindi. It is also reported that the five militants are believed to be members of Pakistani Taliban. The identities of five men are now open to the public: Sher Zaman, Hasnain Gul, Rafaqat Hussain, Abdul Rasheed and Aitzaz Shah. All of them have been in jail since four years ago and are from northwestern of Pakistan. Two officers names are Saud Aziz and Khurram Shahzad. All of them denied their allegation on Saturday.
The circumstance of Benazir Bhutto’s death was mystifying, as police refused to submit autopsy request and contradiction was found in numbers of attacker and cause of death report. Due to this, the case remained unsettled for considerable time.
The government considers the instigator of this incident as Baitullah Mehsud, former head of Pakistani Taliban who was murdered by CIA drone strike of 2009.
The next hearing at the court is going to take place at November 19.
