Italian Premier Berlusconi Resigns

According to Fox News, Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi resigned on Saturday. This sets a transition aimed at bringing Italy back from being near the edge of an economic crisis. Cheers erupted as many witnessed Berlusconi make his final act in office. This ended his seventeen year political era. President Giorgio Napolitano is expected to hold a meeting with Italian political forces on Sunday to figure out how to proceed. The resignation was set in motion after economic reforms to increase the retirement age starting in 2026 were approved. The vote for Berlusconi's resignation was 380-26 with two abstentions.
