Flooding, Death Tolls Continue to Rise in Thailand

The worst flood since WWII has brought about chaos and even death (now above 500) in the greater Bangkok area as residents remain fearful for their lives and community. The flooding has yet to reach many key areas, including Mo Chit, the area just north of the central business district, and the Mo Chit skystation which serves as a popular means of transportation for much of the city. Most of the flooding has affected cities outside or nearby to Bangkok. Ayutthaya has been the province hit the hardest as it has dealt with continuous rainfall for a whole month now, and a death toll now at ninety. The majority of the deaths reported have been drowning incidents, with a some reports indicating death from electrocution. All of this death and destruction is occuring even with a sophisticated drainage system in place leaving many residents unhappy about the governments ability to predict this natural disaster. The latest source has said that the government plans to set aside 3.3 billion dollars for post-flood reconstruction.
