Honduras
has one of the highest murder rates in the world but the recent
ceasefire is the first step towards an agreement. The two most
violent and notorious gangs in Honduras, Mara Salvatrucha and Mara
18 Street, said they would commit zero crime and zero violence on the
streets. Although nothing has been signed, this is the first step
towards a more lasting agreement. They want society and authorities
to forgive them for the damage they have done but also want the
government to listen since they need their help to earn an honest
living and to be reintegrated into society.
