Narrowing health gap

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-22539445

The WHO announced that infant mortality rates fell from 12 million in 1990 to 7 million in 2011, which is a huge reduction overall. Still, it is not enough to meet their goal of a 2/3rds reduction by 2015. The gap is narrowing between most and least advantaged countries in the quality and accessibility of health care. The number of moms who die in child birth also went down 3 percent. I found this shocking that in 10 years it has only gone down by 3 percent. The group Save The Children brings up a good point: it is not just health care that needs to change but also the access these kids have to food. Starvation is a huge contributing factor to these child deaths. I would take it even one step further in saying preventative medicine, illness education, and sanitation methods also need improvement to get these child mortality numbers down to meet the WHO's goal.
