Trident Whistleblower, Nuclear "disaster waiting to happen"

Even though the information contained in this article is a bit older, I believe it is worth posting until it is improved.

Enacted during the height of the cold war, the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Arms is exactly what it sounds like. People all over the world commit to the disarmament of existing weapons and the dedication to peaceful use of nuclear technology. However, 5 countries who have signed this treaty don't really need to follow these rules. The United States of America, France, Great Britain, Russia, and China have nuclear weapons, have no intention of disarming them, and most certainly use them for things that are not peaceful in nature.

This post will focus on Great Britain, but it is unlikely to be the only, or the worst, offender in these matters. Great Britain employs a defense program entitled Trident II D5 Strategic Weapon System, which houses nuclear missiles on submarines that hide in strategic positions around the world. The article in question is a Wikileaks article of firsthand accounts of the dangerous conditions that plague one of many submarines that Britain employs. Problems that start before our whistleblower even steps foot on the sub, when passing security with ease carrying contraband, or even insufficient identification. The first hand account then goes on to describe the subs state of disrepair that doesn't seem to concern those involved with its operation enough for them to fix these problems. Finally it shows how some personnel are untrained or unfit to hold such important positions where one wrong step could send the entire population of Britain to the moon.

All in all I have to agree with the opinion stated in the article, giving our so-called enemies the tools to destroy us with the very weapons we assume make us untouchable. The danger of submarine safety violations is always worth correcting for the sake of the crew, but the safety of all the people in Great Britain who put their faith in the people who run this program to not put them at risk every second of their lives, makes this problem worth fixing without question.
