Haitian Relocation
As many people know, January brought forth a very devastating earthquake to Haiti, and has caused quite a bit of strife around the capitol. Many of the victims who had lost their homes as a result of the quake, have been staying in makeshift camps. Several of these people staying in these camps have boarded buses and have been moved to a different camp farther out of the capitol of Port-au-Prince. This action is being taken in response to the coming rainy season, as well as the fear of hurricanes. These rainfalls could bring forth a threat of catastrophic mudslides to the people seeking shelter in the lower lands near the capitol. The ultimate goal is to have 7,500 of the victims in high risk areas to be relocated to safer grounds.
