Though it has been almost completely forgotten, Haiti's large-scale earthquake was just three months ago, and the country is still in a state of chaos. It is this chaos that breeds a safe haven for drug lords, terrorism, and other forms of an illicit economy that the United States is stepping in to try and restore order. As the story points out, the U.S. has provided over $422 million in aid from the Department of Defense alone. The aid is going to build anti-crime afforts like building infrastructure, community ties and police agencies in some of Haiti's most dangerous areas.
