Kyrgyzstan's leader willing to step down

It was reported today that Kyrgyzstan's president, Kurmanbek Bakiev, is willing to step down as president on one condition: that he and his family are allowed to leave the country safely. After violent demonstrations last week, Bakiev escaped to the southern regions of Kyrgyzstan as the capital was overrun by opposition leaders. However, the interim leader, Roza Otunbayeva, has said that negotiations between Bakiev and the interim government are underway that would avoid conflict.
