Turkey to shut schools in blow to PM rival

The Turkish parliament has just passed a legislation provided for closing a group of private mid-schools that prepares millions of students for high schools and university examination. Those schools are owned by a U.S.-based- Muslim cleric, Fetullah Gulen, who is accused, by the current government, of running a campaign to topple Erdogan’s government by having these schools as a main economic source. The government has set Sep. 1st, 2015 to be the deadline for closing such schools. The government claims such trend as part of reforming “unhealthy” educational system that does not support the Turkish economy. While, at the same time, this reflects the earlier tense relations between Erdogan’s government and Gulen’s movement after such scandal on December, 17 last year that was against Erdogan’s interior minister. Whereas, apparently, all of these actions and reactions comes into the sense of preparing for the Prime minister by the end of March, which considered to be a challenge for Erdogan after 11 years in Power.
