Ukraine is in turmoil, but the West can help

This article discusses the current protests and dangerous situations taking place right now in the Ukraine. The main focus of this article is that things are at a tipping point and if action isn't taken soon, it is very possible things will take a turn for the worse. There are many fears that would lead to an increase in violence. One of the main ones is that self defense groups, as they are referred to in the article, may continue to pop up therefore increasing the amount of people and different groups fighting against each other. The second major problem the Ukraine is facing is from a group called the Oligarchs. The Oligarchs are 20 billionaires who control one fifth of Ukraine's GDP. This group wants to remain on good terms with the EU because it is in their best economic and financial interests to remain tied to the economy and market of the European union. This article is interesting because it calls on the West to involve themselves in various ways in an attempt to stop the spread of fighting in Ukraine and to restore peace and order in the European Union. It makes me think a lot of the ideas presented to us by Niebuhr in that I feel this calls the west to take a "morally hazardous action" to involve itself into a war voluntarily because it is the right thing to do some may say in order to restore order and benefit as large of a group of people as possible.
