President Trump announced today a new trade deal with neighboring nations Mexico and Canada. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will be replaced with the United States Mexico Canada Agreement (USMCA). While Canada and Mexico have agreed to this deal, Congress has yet to approve it. This agreement is said to improve U.S. farmers' access to Canadian diary, as well as providing a "new dawn" for the U.S. auto industry (O'Reilly). Surprisingly, Mexico agreed to the deal well before Canada did, despite Canada and the U.S. being long-time allies prior to President Trump's tumultuous relationship with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto has stated that the USMCA is a "win-win-win" for all three nations involved (O'Reilly).
