Isreali, Syrian Conflict

On the 5th of May it was alleged that the Israeli government sieged a suburb of Damascus. Although it is still uncertain whether it was truly the Israeli’s or a possible terrorist attack many Syrian’s are calling for the violence to stop. It will be very interesting where this goes because quite recently there was an airstrike from Israel and Syria was just found to use chemical weapons on its own people. The Deputy of Foreign Ministry for Syria had this to say, “the retaliation was always painful to Israel, and they will suffer again”. While the jawing back and forth has gone on between Syria and Israel has been going on for some time now I think the Syrians are quite pressed to make a move. They will not be bullied by Israel but they know that attacking Israel is not as simple as crossing the border because of Israel’s many powerful allies. Perhaps we could see a build up Syrian allies appear and cause tensions to rise even higher. It will be interesting to see if Israel is attacked or attacks Syria what Europe and the U.S. will do. I can only hope peace prevails, however my hopes are not very high.
