The new Libyan parliament has passed a law banning Gaddafi era officials from holding political office. This law was passed after militias began a siege of the parliament building in support of the new law. This law has the potential to unseat many current members of government, including the sitting prime minister. The long term effects have yet to be seen, but this act of siegocacy has the potential to affect the current balance of powers between militias.
