45th Anniversary of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

On March 5, 2015 President Barack Obama made a statement to commemorate the fourty fifth anniversay of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Obama stated that the United States aims for a peaceful and stable world without nuclear weapons. He committed that the United States will continue to promote the nuclear disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation. However, I think it is unlikely to have a world free of nuclear weapons in the near future, since NPT has various outstanding issues. Although the United States has reduced the number of nuclear weapons to the lowest levels in the last half century, they still has enormous amount of it. There are no negotiations currently going on between the two largest nuclear nations, the United States and Russia. Lately, they are having difficulties preventing Iran to have their nuclear weapons as well. Unfortunatelly, it would take a long period of time to have a world free of nuclear weapons. http://sputniknews.com/politics/20150305/1019114075.html
