Bombings in Nigeria kill at least 50

Maiduguri, in northeast Nigeria, endured bomb blasts that killed at least 50 people on Saturday. The Maiduguri attack is believed to be the worst since armed fighters tried to take the city earlier this year in two other attacks. While there is no immediate claim to the bombings, they came amid reports that Boko Haram pledges their allegiance to ISIL. Maidguri is the birthplace of Boko Haram, which has coveted the city as a prized capital for the state they endeavor to create. While I am, in no way, privy to the kind of knowledge to readily discern the perceived future of Boko Haram with their professed allegiances, I know that I am interested in seeing how this will all play out. Will this proclamation be realized and elevated as a trophy by ISIL, or will Boko Haram's attempt be brushed under the rug in the coming days.
