After Boko Haram allied themselves with the Islamic state group in Syria and Iraq, Niger and Chad launched major ground and air strikes in northeastern Nigeria. This attacked followed a mass build up of troops from Niger, Cameroon, and Chad to combat against the Boko Haram. The armies have been reclaiming a lot of lost land from the rebels. The reason they are working so hard and fast is so that elections can take place in Nigeria in time. It is bad news to hear that Boko Haram as allied itself with IS, but the progress being done in Nigeria is certainly a good thing.
