The former Catalonia leader Carles Puigdemont turned himself in to Belgian police after hearing that Spain called for a EU arrest warrant. He claimed he did not intend to run away but would agree to a fair trial. He believes he would not be given a fair trial in Spain, but thinks he may receive one in Belgium. The Belgian judge ordered Puigdemont not to leave the country and to inform him of his whereabouts until the trial, set for two weeks from now.
