Ever since the terrorist attack in New York last Tuesday, the diversity visa lottery has been criticized. The attacker got into the U.S through this program. The Diversity visa lottery program makes up to 50,000 immigrant visas available annually, drawn from random selection among all entries to individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. President Trump wants to dismantle this program and make it more merit based.
