From Belgium, Catalonia Leader Dismissed By Spain Insists He’s Still in Charge

Catalonian leader Carles Puigdemont was charged with sedition by the Spanish government and turned up in Belgium to assure that he was still President of Catalonia and that he and some of his cabinet would be resisting the Spanish government from Belgium. He also mentioned that his movement plans to take part in the elections in December for a new Catalan parliament and they would honor the results as long as Spain goes along with it as well. Many people thought that Puigdemont was in Belgium for political asylum because he would not get a fair trial if he remains Spain, but he claims he is there "because it is the capital of Europe" and he wishes to emphasize that the Catalan independence movement concerns all of Europe.
