1, George W. Bush Made the Bigger Mistake in Afghanistan

1, George W. Bush Made the Bigger Mistake in Afghanistan

So, this Afghanistan thing has been a total mess and while I’m glad we’re out of that stupid war, there is so much I continue to be disappointed by. So here is an article that gives many reasons as to why we really need to blame Bush for starting this mess instead of Biden for pulling out (though we can still criticize Biden (refusing to take more refugees and how he basically prepared no evacuation plan) it’s Bush, colonialism and xenophobia that fueled this senseless and wasteful conflict. Famously, Bush invaded afghanistan after 9/11 and declaring the famous “war on terror” and later invading Iraq and other nations with the thin veil of they were “making weapons” or that we just wanted to “spread democracy” Though it is very clearly known that all the Bush administration wanted was to colonize the middle east so they could exploit the land and their people for oil and other resources. So of course I’m blaming Bush for the conflict as he essentially invaded a middle eastern nation and just ruined them. He ruined their culture, their infrastructure and the political climate. The image of the middle east being a war zone is our fault. We demonized these people and led a racist and xenophobic crusade that is being felt well into today, stripped them of their resources and stripped their homes of any stability. The war in Afghanistan was founded on racist and colonialist beliefs held by Bush and it’s cost was basically an entire culture. It’s despicable and we need to start blaming the right people. -Sydney Dryier
