Cherán, Michoacán

https://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/documentary-tells-the-story-of-the-indigenous-uprising-in-cheran-michoacan/

Cherán,  Michoacán is about a two hour drive from my family's hometown in Mexico. The town is infamous for their brutal values and morals. They're mostly known as the town where residents would carry around machetes and taking things into their own hands. As of now, they've been recognized for the reasoning behind their strong morals. This documentary shows how a small, self-governing indigenous town is now one of the only towns that has a low crime rate in a state like Michoacán. They took things into their own hands and have succeed in keeping its small community safe.
