The Taliban control in Afghanistan is only worsening as we all would imagine. Most recently in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan, the Taliban is strictly banning barbers from shaving beards and playing music in their barbershops. This ban is in pursuit of strict Sharia law. Sharia in Arabic translates to "God's immutable divine law", or in other words, it is simply God's law in the Islamic faith. There is another word in Arabic that translates to the mortal interpretations of God's law, fiqh. Fiqh is what would be commonly followed and studied. Given the historic reputation of the Taliban, failure to comply will result in quite grim outcomes. You may be asking "why wouldn't they let you shave?", and that goes back to the strict following of Islam. In Islam, it is Hadith or religiously forbidden to shave your beard as a beard bears resemblance to Muhammad. It is, however, quite allowed to trim your beard. This exercise of Sharia law is quite concerning as it likely means things will return to how they were before US intervention if not worse.
