Switzerland became one of the last countries in western Europe that legalize same-sex marriage. Almost two-thirds of Swiss voters agreed with same-sex marriage in a referendum. It makes Switzerland the 30th country in the world to adopt same-sex marriage. Over the last 20 years, most countries in western Europe have recognized same-sex marriage. However, some rights are restricted in Switzerland even though it has allowed same-sex couples to register partnerships since 2007. In Japan, same-sex marriage has not been allowed yet. Many people raise their voices to change this situation, but the Diet's move remains stagnant. I hope that everyone can get to have the right to marry.
