It has been almost 2 years since the pandemic has begun, and throughout this time Turkemenisntan has not reported a single case of covid. President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov has been vocal about his reports of no covid cases not being fake and that people should not assume they are lying because of his oppressive rule. He is expecting people to believe that while Iran, which borders Turkmenistan, is having one of the worst outbreaks in the world and Turkmenistan is staying 100% healthy. At what point do you have to stop worrying about your image as a politician and start to worry about your own people?
