The GOP's voter suppression efforts are backfiring. It turns out republicans' effort to hinder minorities' ability to vote is actually suppressing their main base, white people. I think the best example of this is the 2020 Senate Runoffs when both Georgia Republican senators lost their seats to Democratic senators. The reason this happened was the misinformation being spread about election security, ultimately deterring white Republicans from voting. The same thing is happening, this time unintentionally, as Republicans ramp up voter suppression. Rural white voters will also be impacted by these laws, causing a major loss of support for the GOP. Now several GOP leaders realize this and are suddenly against the law now that they realize it will "harm" white people.
