Sudan Flooding

Seasonal rains in Sudan have become violent, destroying about 35,000 homes. Not only have the rains relocated many people, about 84 people have also been killed. The provinces in Sudan are taking those who have lost their homes into shelter. They are receiving aid from local organizations and it has been stated that about 100,000 people have been affected by these rains. On top of that, about 35,000 South Sudanese refugees have been affected by the flooding too. The response to the flooding has been slow, and many U.N. officials are complaining about the reactiveness to this issue. The U.N. has given $7.7 million to humanitarian causes in response to this. Relief supplies have also been brought to the areas in need, but are running out fast. The U.N. also allocated another $7 million to bring in new relief items. Lastly, Sudanese has also been declared an area of natural disaster after the large number of people affected by the heavy rains.
