Margaryta Zatuchna's life began as Adolf Hitler pushed the extermination of Jewish communities from Europe. She was forced to run away from the Nazis as a baby and is now being pushed out of her home again as a result of Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Days before the Nazis invaded Kharkiv, her hometown, she was evacuated to a village in the mountains where she grew up under Soviet rule. Her life was then peaceful until, of course, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine. Her husband passed away as the fighting progressed and her journey is not over yet. She is waiting to receive a US visa to visit her brother.
