A Somalian Islamic group by the name of Al-Shabab seized control of Jowhar, a major town southeast of Mogadishu. The rebels have been fighting with the transitional governemnt and the recent advances of the rebel group have showed the escalating tensions in Somalia. The rebels have launched constant attacks on the capital and so far the constant clashes between the two have left at least 103 people dead and 420 wounded. The U.S. suspects the rebel group of having connections with al Qaeda.
