Jewish-Catholic Relations on the Mend?

by: Megan Smith

A new found document located just on the outskirts of Rome has the potential to make the Jewish-Catholic divide a slightly smaller one. This document depicts Pope Pius XII giving direct order to protect Jews during the time of the Holocaust. This document provides evidence that Pius, who has been widely accused of not doing enough to protect the Jewish population during the Holocaust, a little bit of leeway. He did in fact call on at least one portion of nuns to protect those in danger. With the discovery of this document, as well as a coming trip to Jerusalem, good relations are on the horizon.
