Shelling Kills 378 civilians in 'no-fire' zone

By: Kelsey Gierzynski

On Saturday around four hundred innocent people were killed and another twelve hundred were wounded in Sri Lanka. An aid worker told CNN that the government had attacked this area, a no fire zone. The government, however, is not taking responsibility for the shelling that killed so many. The government instead insists that it was a group known as Tamil Tiger, which is a group that attacks civilians in order to rebel against the government. The government said that it was them because the rebel group has been known to be behind several attacks within the 'no-fire' zone.
The government said the military went into other areas to get at a terrorist group known as LTTE and that they were able to kill some members of this group. It was also said that several civilians died when they went in to get to the terrorist group. A news reporter tried to show that it was the government by showing the abuse and that these people have been living with a shortage of water and food. After the reporter was found out the government of Shri Lanka arrested him and his crew.
