For months schools in Florida high schools have been rejected of the education of African American studies due to Florida’s education department rejection. The rejection was due to concern of the material that would’ve been taught to the students which was called “ too violent” and certain novels written by authors that were also a concern. Discussion in court brought up the other reason they decided to remove this course from high schools because studies such as African American Studies are brain washing the students and also not letting other students live up to their beliefs. Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis critics and other White House officials have accused DeSantis of only banning the course because of certain ideas and topics he didn’t like being thought in the course because not only a few months ago he banned Black Queer Studies being taught at any of the schools also. So this doesn’t have anything to do with the course being “brainwashing” or something everyone agrees on. This is one person arguing something that doesn’t concern him in the first place and also how does a topic like that even come into conversation?
