With the Russian offense preparing for the next phase of war (assumed to begin in the spring and all about tank warfare), Ukraine requests for Western weapons. Instead of the "aging" T-72 tanks, Lieutenant General Naiev urges Ukraine's allies to supply more modern tanks, like the German Leopard 2's and British Challengers. The hope is that with the modernized weapons, Ukraine will only need 200-300 tanks to outdo 2,000-3,000 Soviet-era tanks - the style of tank that Russia is currently using. However, some Ukrainian allies, like Germany, are stalling the supply of weapons, which will cause the Ukrainian soldiers to "die more often and with greater regularity."
