Russia’s war in Ukraine has led to many things over the past year including energy shortages in Europe, devastation in Ukraine, and the unity of many western countries, especially in NATO. Finland and Sweden have bid to join NATO in response to growing tensions in Europe as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine and continues to show hostility with the west. Recently at a Swedish protest a Quran was burnt by protesters and Turkey has doubled down on their decision to deny Sweden NATO membership. Sweden has responded saying that it was a racist attack and the Swedish government condemns the action. Turkey has since responded telling Sweden to “determine” their next moves on their path to join NATO. By Michael Gill
