New Zealand Swears in New Prime Minister

After Jacinda Ardern resigned last Thursday, Chris Hipkins has been sworn in as deputy Prime Minister. There will be an election in October to officially decide the new Prime Minister but Hipkins will act as Prime Minister for now. Hipkins closely worked with Ardern to form many of the policies she put in place during her time as Minister. Hipkins has been a member of Parliament since 2008 and served as Minister of Education, Minister of Police, and Minister for the Public Service. Although they have different personalities, their politics are fairly similar hopefully making it an easy transition.
