If Obama wins, the bull gets slaughtered

Stephanie Gesselle

CNN reported today that the entire Kenyan village of Kogelo is displaying huge support for Barack Obama. The people of Kenya believe that this village is Barack’s ancestral home. The presidential candidate’s father was born in this small district of less than 1000 people and several other of Obama’s family members reside here. Reportedly, it is the home of his grandmother, aunts, uncles, half brothers, and sisters, who are all famous now in this area of Kenya. Many have shown support by giving speeches and demonstrations in the yards of their homes in Kenya. Special prayer ceremonies were held to pray for an Obama victory. Since the start of the election, this small village has turned into a media craze. The area has been overrun by hundreds of local and international journalists. Bootlegged videos as well as campaign posters and buttons are among the many shows of support by the people of Kenya. It was also reported that individuals are so excited about the Obama campaign that they are even hooking up car batteries to small televisions to see the election coverage. Also, if Obama is to win, the village will be slaughtering a bull to feast on. According to villagers it is common practice to feast on bull in celebration and have labeled the bull as the one McCain supporter.
