It is almost a week since we elected Brack Obama as the new president of the United States. It seems as if this victory, however, was not just one for the US, but one experienced throughout the entire world and surprisingly in the Middle East.
A CNN atricle from Thursday of last week spoke about the the words of praise the infamous Iranian president had for Obama. According to CNN, the last time the US heard praise from Iran in such instance was in 1979 during the Islamic Revolution. Ahmadinejad spoke of the change in tone that US policies will now have. He was quoted in welcoming the change in US leader he said, "The great nation of Iran welcomes basic and fair changes in U.S. policies and conducts, especially in the region." Analyst from the Associated Press said that this was a positive step that Ahmadinejad took and that now it is up to the US to make the next move.
It has been interesting to see the international reaction to this change in presidency. We will all just have to see where it goes from here. Hopes are high and only time will tell.
