Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight.com wrote an interesting analysis of public opinion on abortion in the United States. Basically, public opinion recently seems to be very slightly shifting pro-life, although a look at long term numbers seems to show the number of pro-choicers and pro-lifers to be relatively static. Also, another website explains how the polls themselves were suspect, including a larger sample of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents along with very vague questions. What's interesting is that America recently elected a pro-choice President and gave expanded majorities to the Democrats, a party with its majority of members holding pro-choice views.
