Egypt referendum

As seen here, referendum on a new constitution took place over Tuesday/Wednesday in Egypt with 38.6% of eligible voters voting.  98.1% of those voting have voted in favor of the referendum. The Muslim Brotherhood boycotted the vote out of protest.  This is in contrast to the constitutional referendum in 2012 under former president Mohammed Morsi that had a turnout of 33% with 64% of those voting in favor of that referendum.  Of note, the new constitution guarantees equality between men and women, keeps Islam as the state religion (but also protects freedom of religion), states that political parties can not be formed on the basis of "religion, race, gender or geography."

The New Constitution is nothing but a piece of paper imposed by the Mubarak's regime (The regime that was ousted by the 25th of Jan 2011 Revolution) with new faces. It does nod guarantee any freedoms, the only thing it guarantees is the Military Power over the people and guarantees Mubarak's regime to come back with more aggressive police country.
