The War on Terror’s authoritarian template

Egypt had once been a country that praised civil liberties, justice, and freedom, but as of late, this has all been pushed to the side. The Egyptian people now praise their own internal forces as they arrest and even kill in mass numbers people associated with the Muslim Brotherhood. As they have been criticized by the international community the Egyptian government has explained their actions by pointing at the United States and the way that they conducted themselves after the attacks on 9/11. The Egyptian government has taken the American model and applied it to their current situation in the denial of basic rights to members of the Muslim Brotherhood, who has been declared an enemy of the state. The Egyptians have taken it further than America did, but the American public still doesn't know the extent to which their government took away their liberties.
