Talks talk between Syrian government and the opposition begin in Geneva today

Today in Geneva,  the first talks began between the Syrian government and the opposition after a civil war began in 2011.  The talks between the two groups only lasted a half an hour this morning, but one can see this as an improvement.  Before the meeting this morning, mediators met separately with the two groups and helped to organize their thoughts for the meeting.  One mediator expressed his need to speak with the "killers of Damascus" because it was helping the children and people of Syria.  Both sides are not in agreement of the future of Syria.  The government does not want a change in leadership, but the opposition forces believes a changed in leadership is needed for Syria to stop the violence.  At 4PM in Geneva today, a talk about a possible cease-fire to let humanitarian efforts into Syria was mentioned.  It was decided in the next two days humanitarian efforts will be allowed in to give nourishment to Syrian citizens.  The releasing of prisoners was also mentioned.  Women and children will be released first.  This is a "half-step" for Syria for peace talks.  During this meeting, not much has been reconciled, but there is still much hope for the future of Syria.
