On Saturday, the national Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition forces voted to attend an international peace conference aimed at ending the civil way in Syria. The United States, along with other international players, have pushed hard for these peace talks. The coalition is facing difficulty dealing with the differences among its members. Less than half its members attended for the voting on Saturday, and those that did attend had difficulty agreeing on anything. Many of the opposition forces want to take no part in the peace talks. Some of the members not in attendance said they did not attend the conference because they believed it did not have enough support from rebels inside Syria. Syrian officials also believe that Al Assad will not give up his power anytime soon. The United States, however, has tried to reassure the coalition that the international community would still help build a transitional government. Three other rebel groups gave their support for peace talks at a meeting in Ankara, Turkey.
